FC Dallas Names Scott Dymond College Director
FRISCO, Texas (June 16, 2010) – Scott Dymond has joined FC Dallas as the club’s first college director, FC Dallas Youth President Dan Hunt announced today.
The first MLS team to implement a college preparation program, FC Dallas has brought Dymond into the organization to work with youth players, their parents and their academic advisors providing information and resources to help prepare student-athletes for college. The program will offer individual assessments, guidelines for progression through the process and compliance with NCAA eligibility requirements. Dymond and FC Dallas also will offer showcase events at Pizza Hut Park, giving players multiple opportunities to perform in front of college scouts. Dymond plans to host at least one college showcase, one college combine and multiple collegiate preparation camps in 2010-11.
“This is an unbelievable opportunity for our players,” said Hunt “Although graduating youth players directly onto our professional roster has become a reality for our program, the majority of our players will not follow that same path. This program has been developed to ensure we assist in providing each member of our club the best opportunities for success in his or her future.”
Previously at Texas Rush Soccer Club in Woodlands, Texas, Dymond has spent the past yeah as the director of coaching and player development as well as director of the college assistance program for the Rush. In addition to having played both collegiate and professional soccer, Dymond has almost 20 years of experience in coaching and player development. Besides a master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina, Scott also holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” License, Royal Netherlands Football Association – KNVB, and an Advanced Level “Match Analysis and Tactics Certificate”.
“I am very excited,” said Dymond. “I am eager to bring my experience into the FC Dallas family. I really enjoy educating the players and the parents, as well as planning and organizing the college showcases and combines. But the greatest part of my job is in knowing I am part of something bigger, something really incredible. I am able to help advance someone’s future. Building this type of program for a professional MLS team is an incredible opportunity, and one I am quite honored to perform.”
“It is such an exciting time to be involved in youth soccer, which is why we have invested so much in our youth program and why we are so committed to the players,” said Hunt. “This is the future of the sport, they are the future.”
Dymond also will coach two FC Dallas Premier Development Program teams in addition to running the college prep program.
