FC Dallas to host Faith and family night Oct. 9
Colorado match to feature Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame induction and free concerts with Hawk Nelson, Revive, Britt Nicole, John Reuben and Marco Barrientos

FRISCO, Texas (Oct. 4, 2010) – FC Dallas’ home finale against the Colorado Rapids, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. Central time, will benefit Relay For Life Frisco and will include free pre- and post-game concerts, the club announced today.

The action begins early with gates opening at 3 p.m. Latin Grammy Award nominee Marco Barrientos will get things started at 3:30 p.m. Also at that time, Hunt Sports Group chairman Clark Hunt will present this year’s inductee into the Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame. The enshrinement will take place outside the Pizza Hut Park northwest gates next to the adidas Field. This year’s recipient is former Dallas Tornado all-star Richard “Dick” Hall.

Following the induction ceremony, fans can watch the hottest team in Major League Soccer take on the Colorado Rapids, while wearing a variety of pink accessories provided by MLS W.O.R.K.S. Coaches will have matching scarves and goalies will be using pink adidas and/or puma keeper gloves. Field players will be wearing removable jersey patches and pink sweat bands for warm-ups.

After the match, fans can enjoy performances from Christian worship bands Hawk Nelson, Revive, Britt Nicole and John Reuben for FC Dallas’ Faith and Family Night. Each $17 end line ticket sold will result in a $3 donation to Relay For Life Frisco.

About Richard “Dick” Hall

Hall has been influencing the North Texas soccer scene for the past four decades. In 1970, Hall moved to the U.S. from England to sign with the Dallas Tornado of the North American Soccer League. In seven years with the Tornado he earned several league all-star honors. After gaining his U.S. citizenship, Hall made four appearances for the U.S. Men’s National Team between 1973 and 1975.

While playing on the professional and international level, Hall still took the time to shape the game’s future generations of players. In 1971, he became the boys’ soccer coach at Greenhill School in Addison. Under Hall’s leadership, the Greenhill School’s varsity teams have earned more than 500 wins and 15 Southwest Preparatory Conference titles. Hall also spent more than 20 years as a coach with the Longhorn Soccer Club in North Texas.

Hall has taught his pupils that playing the beautiful game with class and respect is more important than getting a win. For nearly 40 years he has used the game of soccer to teach North Texas youth life skills to make them not only better soccer players, but better people.

About the Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame

The Texans Credit Union Walk of Fame is situated just north of Pizza Hut Park Stadium and runs directly through the center of the youth soccer fields immediately south of Technology Drive. This stretch of soccer history spans approximately 1,400 linear feet. Various commemorative markers are located within this area, each recognizing members of the soccer community who have been instrumental in helping build the sport in Texas. Formal nomination applications are accepted from the general public via the Internet, fax and mail. Thereafter, the Nomination Committee and then the Selection Committee review and vote on all nominations to select the inductees.
