Home Grown Blog: Victor Ulloa

Victor Ulloa is one of five Home Grown players who have been signed to FC Dallas professional contracts. In his first first preseason as a professional player, Ulloa will be using this blog to share his trials and experiences with FC Dallas fans.

Hello everyone,

So this week’s training has been very interesting to me. On Sunday we had to run two miles in 12 minutes (in which I had one of the best times). After the run we had some technical work and then we played a small-sided game.

I had never practiced two times a day, and Monday I experienced it for the first time. Monday morning we did some sprints around the turf field and some passing drills.  Then we had our first 11-on-11 scrimmage of the preseason.

The afternoon session wasn't any easier than the morning one. We started off with a warm-up and then we had some conditioning. After the run we had possession drills and then we played a small-sided game.

On Tuesday morning when I came in the locker room you could see that everyone was tired from the running we had done the day before. A lot of players were in the cold and hot tubs.  It was pretty funny to see.

In the morning session we warmed up and had some technical work and possession drills. After that we were split into three groups and while two groups got to play, the other went on a 15-minute run around the complex.

In the afternoon session we played three 20-minute 11-on-11 games. They were very intense games. The speed of play was fairly quick, even with some players saying they felt tired.

Wednesday’s training was canceled because of the weather, so I just sat at home recovering and sleeping a lot.

Thursday’s training was indoors because of the weather. We went to Fieldhouse USA, where we had some possession drills and then were split into four teams and got to play. After the last game played, we thought we were going to have our cool down, but it turned out we had 10 sprints to do before we left.

This was just the second week of preseason, but I can say that we put in some hard work.

-Victor
